People watching - poem

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Tuesday, 26 Oct 2021, 18:54
We're watching as the world goes by
Each person keeps a watchful eye
The pattering of the childrens feet
Their mothers in the garden meet
Each drinking in the midday heat
The sound of wind whistling through a field of wheat
The sound of a ball kicked in the street
The children going to buy a treat
The sound of the rustling leaves
The Jangling of car keys
Some people in the town are shouting
Some children going on an outing
Workmen working on the road
A truck passes by with a heavy load
Women going to the supermarket
A man in a car ponders where to park it
A window cleaner polishes a window clean
A crook that knows that he's been seen
A black cat cries by lamp post green
People dreaming of going up to the coast
Where they can do what they like doing most
'Watching as the world goes by.'

The ancient city- poem

We took a trip into the ancient city
There ate a snack along the way
We browsed the books and antique stalls
Visited museums, art galleries, and shopping malls
Climbed up the hill to see the castle proud and tall
Then went to look beyond the great city wall
And there, there the ghastly gallows we did a- spy
Where in days of old and years
gone by
It was right here that they used to- hang them high!

When we were young- .poem

Life in the country used to be good
In between village, field and wood
Time went by so slow and easy
The weather was often damp and breezy
Concealed in cottage warm and cosy
when the children were so young and rosy
Then there were joyful songs to be sung
Games to be played
Great books to be read
The fairy stories we read in bed
Hide and seek we played round the shed
Nights in front of fire's golden glow
Singing by the old pia-no
When we were just young
And our lives had begun.
But the house is now cold
And we have all grown old

📚
Today began with Stylistics bookl📕 which I found very interesting, as it gives lots of good examples of poetry techniques. underlined all the terminology, and made notes about what I have just read. I also read 'Creativity in language' book chapter 3. 📖 I managed to study for a good 2-3 hours today so that was good.
Anyway this gave me the time and opportunity I needed, to get ahead and do some serious studying.
In the evening, I cooked the meal a stew which we ate with some crusty bread, it was a hearty meal for an autumn day. In the evening I listened to classical music, just for relaxation. then I went to bed. 📻🎼🎵🎶

I dont need a church to play my little part
My body is my temple
And the Lord is in my heart!

Jesus said "believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. .But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

I am studying Module E302 English Language and creativity. (I also study French) I read chapters 2 and 3 again in the language and creativity book, and in stylistics book chapters 3 &4. I managed to find the Tutorials site and booked my place for the 14th October. Then I did all the activities answering all the questions. For units 1 &2 🙂
The cats were lounging on the setee as I worked studiously on the computer 👩💻 doing all the activies. For lunch I had a spinach and feta cheese quiche with salad and a few chips.😋
I listened to audios 📻 in the afternoon for a while and wrote plenty of notes, especially terminology words, which I coloured in with different bright coloured marker pens.✏📝🖍 I then stuck them onto a board, which I can look at from time to time.
I also wrote these words in my digital note book and later on I will get my husband to test me on what they all mean! 😁

📖 The bible says we are not to be enslaved!
Jesus Christ has set us all free
We no longer bound by sin and slavery. ⛓
Do not be enslaved by anything again.

Listen to his words and follow him. 📖 In The Bible.

Walking in the Woods. There are numerous health benefits to having a brisk walk on an autumn day, as long as it doesn't rain of course. The children love it and the dogs do too! But don't forget your brolly!

The Nature Reserve

Edited by Gill Burrell, Monday, 25 Sept 2023, 14:02
Today I decided to visit the Nature Reserve with my husband near to where I live. It was good to get out and about, and look at nature, because being in nature is so beneficial for the mental health.
The Nature Reserve is a short distance away, but still too far to walk, so we took the bus, which takes about 15 minutes.
When we arrived we walked for a while, then we looked at the map on the display board to find out where all the foot paths were.
We sat on a bench along the way, there we listened to the birds in the trees. We could hear lots of different birdsong. The leaves were rustling in the wind, and the sun shone through the trees, which made the light all dappled and interesting. I even managed to take some photographs.
We also enjoyed the silence too, far away from the busy roads.
Then we saw magpies, crows, wood pidgeons, wagtails, robins, blue tits and blackbirds flying down to eat the insects after yesterdays rain, also a grey squirrel ran by carying an acorn between its teeth!
There were some little birds too, wrens, sparrows and finches, they came to the picnic area to eat some crumbs off the picnic tables, from the visitors.
We walked along the woodland paths and felt the peacefulness of the place. The sun was shinning and there was a nice cool breeze blowing. There was a nice earthy smell too in the woods, and it smelt fresh and clean after the rain. We both enjoyed a stroll in the woods, as well as the bus journey back home.

Blackberry and apple jam
to spread on bread for tea
I made it fresh today
Just for you and me
The bread is homemade too
And still is warm to touch
We can eat it with jam and cream
We'll enjoy it very much!
I have a little tea set
That's pink with flowers blue
With lovely cups and saucers
All shiny and brand new!
