The day I woke up

Visible to anyone in the world

My last blog post explained a reason why I'm a wee bit jaded, the other reason was that I spent night last sitting on my bed with my mouth open watching my world change until 7am.

But the Scots don't seem that important; I'm waiting for BBC 24 to talk about any of this, but I've an idea that they might say nothing.

Your world has changed too, my suited ones, not because a voting system has been rejected, but because we have a new Decleration of Arbroath.

The Scots will be a nation again. But we'll be a nation without a baggage of hate and violence, not so much as one person had a hang-nail because we are now going to win our struggle.

The old-song will be sung again. Soon. And other nations will want what we have.

Chai Marsala

Visible to anyone in the world

We all have our own recipes of course, here's mine...

the spices

  • lemon balm, a good sprig. I'm lucky, this is almost a weed where I live.
  • 2 cloves
  • cinnamon, the bark of course
  • ginger, I go for about a knuckle-to-thumb-top's worth, sliced roughly
  • 4 cardomen pods

At this point we are entering contentious territory—the tea[s] and the method.

the tea[s]

I use a spoonful of china green gunpowder and a spoonful of darjelling, I'm one person. I know that Assam is the traditional tea, personally I find it too strong.

the method

Of course we boil the water add the tea and spices, but where and when to add the carnation milk? If you add it to the boiling you have a messy pan, although the taste is better. I add to the cup.

the sugar

I go for two.

I'm open to change...

A complete and utter mess, so I've changed it.

Should I change my life?

AAAAAArgh

Visible to anyone in the world

What do I do...?

Dear Mr NJ Anderson,

We are contacting you because you have studied one or more undergraduate modules in pure mathematics, or are registered to do so, and may be interested in planned changes to the University's mathematics education curriculum.

The University is planning to introduce a new 60-credit module, 'Further pure mathematics' (M303) starting in October 2013.

This will replace all three of the existing 30-credit modules:

* 'Groups and geometry' (M336)

* 'Topology' (M338)
* 'Number theory and mathematical logic' (M381)

What does this mean for me?

The content of the new module will be based on material in all three of the modules that it replaces. As a consequence 'Further pure mathematics' (M303) will be an excluded combination with M336, M338 and M381. This means it will not be possible to count M303 together with any of M336, M338 and M381 in any qualification.

* 'Groups and geometry' (M336) will be available to study in February 2012 and, for the last time, in October 2013.

* 'Topology' (M338) will be available to study for the last time in February 2012.
* 'Number theory and mathematical logic' (M381) will be available to study for the last time in October 2012.

Do I wait??

Contradiction

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Neil Anderson, Friday, 11 Mar 2011, 17:31

My wife and I are listening to Supertramp [search it yourself]her, quote:

"once upon a time we listened to ugly people making beautiful music, now we listen to beautiful people who can't hold a note sing [stuff that comes out of the other orifice]

Simon Cowell is one of the richest people in the world. He got rich by ruining, part of, the world for the rest of us. Moral: none.

Five hours....

Visible to anyone in the world

Removing staples. Yes, I, and another, spent today at that, for said time. So that a paint could happen.

At times, when we ripped off a layer, only to find another layer, there were audible groans. Neither of us cried, but that's because we are boys working with other boys.

Programmers, people, take care to remember that what you do today will have to be cleared up by others someday—make it easy for us.

Don't build layers upon other layers.

[In the case of staples that means, for one thing, never put them in vertically: I nearly fell of the ladder at one point trying to remove one of these....]

I weighed the staples that we'd removed-- 0.9kg. A disappointingly small amount, probably less than the weight of the blood that I seem to have shed judging by the number of cuts on my hands.

Still, tomorrow I will be as wrong as I was today;

Rising Sun

Visible to anyone in the world

As a TMA put off I decided to do a YouTube trail for, "The house of the rising Sun". Here's some of the things that I found. WARNING may cause offence or amusement

I thought that I knew what it was about, clearly not, still this is the best one ever...

While I was searching I came accross these

I know what that one's about...
