Dear Raimondas,
Thank you for contacting me about support for students.
High living costs are putting pressure on student budgets, affecting
their learning and wellbeing. According to the Office for National
Statistics, 29% of students were skipping non-mandatory lectures to save
money on transport and nearly 50% said they were “very worried” about
the cost of living.
On 11 January, the Government announced that maintenance loans in the
2023/24 academic year will increase by 2.8%. Yet, according to the
Institute for Fiscal Studies, this will still be much lower in real
terms than in 2020/21, and the additional £15 billion of funding
announced to help universities provide extra support to students is
estimated to come to around £10 per person. I worry universities are
having to do more and more to help students, with little support from
Ministers.
Analysis from the rental website StuRents last year found a third of
student accommodation cost more than the average maintenance loan.
Ministers have committed to introducing better protections for tenants
renting in the private sector, including measures to limit rent
increases to once a year. However, I am concerned that this does not
offer effective protection against unaffordable rent rises and the
Government is not introducing reforms quickly enough.
Affordable public transport also helps tackle costs of living, but towns
and cities have had to accept rising fares and cuts to routes for too
long in my view. I want to see local communities back in control of
public transport to lower fares and improve services, following the path
set by our brilliant Mayors, such as in Greater Manchester, where young
people aged 16 to 18 can currently travel for free on most local bus
services.
I support calls for a Take Back Control Bill to provide the basis for
the largest transfer of power from central Government to local people,
including powers over public transport and greater control over skills
funding.
Further education is crucial to improving skills and driving growth, but
I am concerned it is not a priority for Ministers with per student
funding for 16- to 18-year-olds in further education colleges falling by
14% in real terms between 2010/11 and 2019/20.
Thank you once again for contacting me about this issue.
Yours sincerely,
Feryal Clark MP

Still waiting for my Slimbook Executive 16 to arrive. They have to
assemble it and all that. Am excited to see and test it. Ofc if I do not
like the build quality I will return it back and buy something else.
Probably will arrive next week. Again a massive thanks to @Roma
who made this more possible. I would have bought the laptop even if I
did not raise any money, but probably a much cheaper one, however Roma's
massive donation is basically what made the laptop campaign make sense https://www.tromsite.com/tromlaptop/ - else....well.....it is really not reliable anymore for me to rely on donations....
I
mean except a few (3 or so) close TROM friends who have helped
enormously for the past years, and maybe 50 or so people who contributed
a little here and there monthly, there is no financial help. We get
some 250 Euros a month from 30 people, and some 200 of this is by 1
human haha. So yeah, we used to get over 1k a month in donations to
support TROM. Not anymore.
Reason?
I suspect a bunch of
reasons such as the fact that nowadays people are blasted with all sorts
of micropayments and donation schemes, subscriptions and the like. When
I started this years ago, donating seemed like a noble thing to do to
support a project. Nowadays donating means you get access to whatever
shit the "sellers" provide. You don't "support", you want the perks and
"early access" shit or whatever. The notion of "donating" has become
almost meaningless and pointless.
Me and Sasha will try to make
money ourselves and support these projects, so for now we are ok. But it
is for sure a bit depressing to see that you provide tons of free
stuff: from books and videos, to online services and so on; and despite
thousands using these things, only a handful help you financially to
sustain these projects.
Anyway, I am continuing the work and maybe through WebApe I can sustain it in the long run

The current FIFA event shows a few things that should have been obvious anyway:
1. Slavery was not abolished, it was reduced and redefined at best.
2. High level sport is a business, nothing more.
3. Greenwashing is the most popular practice of pretty much all companies and organizations.
4. Not many people care about climate change, slavery, dictatorship regimes, and so forth.
5. The ones in power (from states to organizations like FIFA) care only about profits and lie endlessly.
6. We are fucked, nothing changes. The same trade based society keeps on being in the driving seat, deciding where we go.

They have also started to ban all advertising because they rightly say that this is only going to create more needless consumption. I am so happy about that. Online or offline, ads are illegal.
They are working with all governments around the world to make a global transportation system that is trade-free, so that we phase out cars entirely. Universal healthcare is also on the agenda together with trade-free education. Two meals a day for everyone, trade-free access to the Internet, investing a lot of resources in non-meat food alternatives, and kick-starting a massive sharing platform (online/offline) so that we can all share the vast amounts of wasted and unused stuff that we have around. Even sharing a room/place to stay. How amazing! This, they hope, will incentivize people to re-use, rather than buy useless shit all the time.
Lastly, they realize that laws and rules do not work, so their overall approach is to create a better society from within the current one. One that does not rely on trade but on share. This way we can make companies and profiteers obsolete, with time. The focus will be on how to protect us and the nature, using renewable energies, less polluting practices, and so forth, since there is no incentive to do otherwise. All, while decoupling ourselves from the need for trade. Have a lot more free time, get more educated, get involved.

Carbon Capture, yet another "green washing" that won't help us at all - https://ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=nJslrTT-Yhc
When
the trade based society we live in, makes us all want to trade like
insane robots, then you can't fix anything unless you fix society.
Period. And these "technological" solutions are a mere scapegoat for the
best players of the game, who have no interest in changing the game.
After all, they are having lots of fun.
So yeah....no, carbon capture is no more than a scam. #tromlive

What projects do you donate? Do they solve problems or just fix things because they don't know what is an origin of most problems - trade!!!?
Coca-Cola cares a lot about climate change, like the most of the trade-based lunatics.Because they have no choice - they need to TRADE.
Soft
drink giant Coca-Cola Co.’s sponsorship of the flagship U.N. climate
conference, known as COP27, sparked an online backlash and highlighted
broader concerns about corporate lobbying and influence.
A message to help you to wake up:
This is very concerning, but not surprising. They seem untouchables.
These entities have an incentive to keep on trading, because the society is built this way. If we do not move away from a trade-based society to one where trade is obsolete, then we are not going to change anything. Period.
A company that trades sugary water in a plastic bottle, cannot care about the environment. At least not much at all. Their profits, the competition with their competitors, all of that enchains them to care about their own business regardless.
We will continue to voice these truths via TROM. And if you want to help, you voice them too!
