Personal Blogs

Hello!

Visible to anyone in the world

Lets be honest, I'm not expecting anyone other than myself to read this. I am not that interesting. I want to use this as a way to document my journey: The good, the bad and the ugly. For now I am not going to do a whole introductory post as I hope I know who I am (although that is subjective). If in the rare case this blog does get engagement and there is a want for me to do so then I will.

Going into this I have a mixture of nerves and excitement. I have tried before at a brick university to study English Literature and History. Unfortunately for me I started in September 2019 and it was a rush decision to go through clearing. I was in what can only be described as prison accommodation. Lockdown was called March 2020. All in all my first year although tumultuous I did pass. I started my second year in another lockdown but ended up facing some serious personal issues from December to Feburary. This is where it went downhill. I was trying to pick up pieces and ended up failing pretty bad. I think I must have went to 3 lectures in total. I stayed and repeated ,y second year but again I stared off good but went downhill once again. My life was not on the trajectory I thought it would be and I really struggled with that. Unfortunately for me the next few years were just as bad.

I now feel like my feet are on the ground enough to give this another go. Living through COVID-19 I became fascinated with how diseases develop and how we as a society respond to it. This is what drew me to public health and wellbeing. In a way to control some of the worst years of my life I want to understand infectious diseases. I have already completed the ''get OU ready'' and have benchmarked some OpenLearn courses for me to do to help build the foundation f my knowledge. I think now I know what to expect and the key is to be prepared I think I have a better shot of this. I will walk across that stage and I will graduate.
