Why Most "Inclusive" Strategies Fail Before They Even Begin

Visible to anyone in the world

Everyone's talking about inclusion and co-creation - but why do so many initiatives still fall flat?

The answer might be uncomfortable: what we call co-creation is often just collaboration in disguise. Participation becomes a performance. Voices are “included,” but decisions are already made. The result? Disillusionment, distrust, and strategies that don’t stick.

So what's the real difference between collaboration and true co-creation?
How can organisations move beyond surface-level engagement to build lasting, participatory cultures?

I have written this article to uncover why most inclusive strategies fail before they begin - and what it really takes to make co-creation work.

Let me know what you think about such approach to co-creation.

Impact of the organisational culture on mental health

Visible to anyone in the world

According to the Big Mental Health Report 2024 by Mind, approximately 1 in 4 individuals in England will encounter a mental health issue at some point during the year.

The economic burden of poor mental health (just in England) is staggering, estimated at £300 billion annually, which is roughly double the NHS's yearly budget.

The workplace can serve as a significant support system for mental health, fostering resilience, or it can negatively impact mental well-being.

In my article titled "How can organisational culture support the mental health of employees?", I discuss the repercussions of inadequate mental health support from a corporate perspective and provide actionable strategies for cultivating an organisational culture that prioritises mental health. Although the article addresses changes in the post-COVID landscape, its insights remain pertinent today.
