Getting into the Facebook group

Visible to anyone in the world

I have been negative about Facebook groups before.

However i am enjoying the general open university Facebook group. It is very inspiring to see all the people who graduate this week, being excited about booking their graduation ceremonies.

It is an interesting read, from newly enrolled students, excited about starting, to finished graduates, excited about graduation ceremonies, and everyone inbetween.

And a lot of excitement about stationary.....

Doing the facebook thing

Visible to anyone in the world

I don't know, i have the facebook thing.. but i don't seem to enjoy it.

It just seems full of arguments and aggravation.

The is so little humour or wisdom in any of the posts.

No i don't wish to sign your petition..

No i don't think we should ban Trump from entering the country...after all that's playing into his phobia.

No i do not wish to attend the boutique fair this Saturday

No i do not need to share a picture of someone with a dead lion that they hunted.. after all i can express contempt for those people without sharing pictures of them with the animals they kill.

I am probably best served by my current policy of going on facebook once in a two week period and hardly ever posting on there.

Facebook seems to be becoming a race to the bottom of the barrel... especially any page that starts with the title,

Spotted....

So many of the pages, groups and comments seem to have become little franchises of hatefulness.

Like so many things in life.. the internet was a good idea, that got filled with people and people's unkindness.

It's sad really.

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Michael Gumbrell, Sunday, 26 Nov 2017, 13:39

I was just chatting with my fellow a222 students in our facebook group.

The upshot was, if you type 'bloody a222' into google,

This blog comes out three times in the top five results.

Just saying.... bloody a222....

Interconnectedness

Visible to anyone in the world

Interconnectedness, is not a made up word, it appears in my module, it alludes to the collectivist perception of international relations.

so I thought I would try a little interconnectedness, so as well as my blog website:

www.thespecialistgeneralist.net

I also created a Facebook page to run along side it for extra digital presence and enhanced interconnectedness.

https://www.facebook.com/thespecialistgeneralist/

I urge you all to like my page on Facebook, please.

Facebook

Visible to anyone in the world

I have to admit i left the DD211 facebook group today.

I have tried in YO 32 and DD103 as well but left those groups early as well.

It is my fault, i think i must have different views to online learning to some of my fellow students.

I prefer to learn independently in the end.

I find the facebooks groups quite frustrating sometimes and think it is better to remove myself than get involved with them.

Goodluck to the students that enjoy them

But for me... 'i'm out'
