What an- Annus Horriblis !

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Monday, 5 Sept 2022, 00:37

I am slowly unwinding from my last EMA. It has been a roller coaster of a journey this term and I am finding it hard to feel elated at the moment,  but rather I am feeling more like a survivor of some kind of an assault course !

It is not the fault of the OU of course, but it is the recent circumstances that are happening in this country at the moment, such as the high rising cost of food prices, the massive increase in energy bills and the lack of any compassion at all from this government, for those who are poor, or who are getting into difficulties.

In fact this government seemed only too happy to have celebratory parties, while we were suffering losses, Covid viruses, bereavement, stresses, cancelled nhs appointments,  hardships,  financial problems and lockdowns. This government are seriously out of touch with the people of this country!

They live on another planet  🔵

IMO, I think he should either  help us or do the right thing and leave !  ➡️

EMA submitted today! 🌞

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Monday, 23 May 2022, 22:09

I have finally submitted my last EMA for the English Module E302. I did not use up the entire 3,000 words of the word count but decided to go for quality rather than quantity.. ✅

I feel shattered after that, I  never thought I would be able to muster up the strength to finish it in time especially after Covid19 illness and everything else. But somehow I managed to do it all and I made it, I have pressed the submission button and sent it off phew!👍

Good luck to all of you!

Best wishes

Gill

Hard Times, Covid 19 and price rises

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Friday, 10 Feb 2023, 22:43

I am Struggling under this government just trying  to make ends meet!
Everything is becoming so expensive in the supermarkets as prices rise quite dramatically! This means eating much less and cutting back. 🍽

Some adults are having to go without food in order to feed and clothe their children. Children who are constantly growing out of their clothes.  👕👖👟

Children themselves are becoming stressed out by what is happening to their parents. They are having 'mental health' problems because of parents having to cut back all the time. No playing computer games because it uses too much electricity! 🎮🕹

Feral children are roaming the streets in gangs with nowhere to go, nothing to do!  😈😈

This mess is not what we voted for!

I know this is not an easy time of transition, but It is unbelievable what the poorest people of this country are going through right now! Why should people be made into scape goats by this government, for what is this governments own mismanagement. Can't the government do anything to ease the situation of people struggling to cope with inflation and the escalating cost of living ?

EMA and Covid worries

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Sunday, 15 Oct 2023, 18:10

Difficult to concentrate due to Covid brain fog!  ☁️

I have tried to paraphrase and to change words around and try to use different words in my EMA but also I have put all the references at the end.

A Rose in bloom

A RedRose

I discovered this lovely red rose growing near the door this morning. A few days ago it was just in bud, but now it has burst out, thanks to the sunshine and some rain showers in the last few days.

EMA Word Count and Covid bain fog!1☁️

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Monday, 23 May 2022, 17:02

I keep ending up with far too many words for the word count which is 3,000 in this EMA. I had nearly 4,000 words but managed to bring it down to 3,050.☁️

Feeling hot and bothered and still feeling Covid effects of brain fog.
It is difficult because I then have to decide to remove something, but what to remove and what to keep?  Thats the conundrum!

Covid19- EMA the next phase!

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Friday, 19 Aug 2022, 21:30

At first for my EMA assignment I did not know what to choose as my example for creativity in language. It was not for a lack of choice. There are plenty of examples and  possibilities available of creativity in everyday language out there. The main point was would I be able to make a 3,000 word essay out of it.

I then stumbled across something novel that I had read in a magazine, that I had found Creative, interesting and entertaining, so I decided to go with that, this has led to a lot of interesting discoveries. I feel quite dizzy thinking about it all!

There has been plenty of material to write about, as one topic seemed to have led to another, because there was a link from one related subject to another.

I have now finished the whole essay just a rough copy! and I am now polishing it up ready to type it up, file it up and send it off!

However,  first I must now read it and re-read it, looking for errors and correcting any mistakes in grammar or punctuation. There is always room for improvement !

Studying EMA and writing up notes

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Tuesday, 11 Apr 2023, 19:16

This morning I managed to write half an essay ( rough copy)for my last EMA assignment of E302, which is not too bad going considering I had Covid to deal with!

The weather's  looking good outside it doesn't rain, so that's ok. In the  afternoon I will take a slow stroll up to the recycling point at the big car park,  along the main road. It is not too heavy just 2 bags containing  plastic bottles and papers. I walk very slowly because I am still suffering Covid symtoms!

We shall overcome- by Pete Seegar- peace movement song

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Tuesday, 11 Apr 2023, 19:21
We shall overcome
We shall overcome
We shall overcome, some day

Oh deep in my heart
I do believe
We shall overcome, some day

We'll walk hand in hand
We'll walk hand in hand
We'll walk hand in hand
We'll walk hand in hand, some day

O deep in my heart
O deep in my heart
I do believe
I do believe
We shall Overcome,some day
We shall Overcome, Some day

We shall live in peace
We shall live in peace
We shall live in peace, some day
We shall live in peace, some day

Oh , deep in my heart
I do believe
We shall Overcome, some day.

Lyrics from a song in Public Domain adapted by Pete Seeger

I also like this version by Joan Baez !

EMA studies with Covid!

Visible to anyone in the world
Edited by Gill Burrell, Sunday, 22 May 2022, 21:19

😔🤮

I have had everything thrown at me, now it is Covid19.
I am still determined to complete this module!
I have chosen something to write about for the assignment, which should cover the required criteria, so I am now in the process of planning and taking notes. Nothing will stop me achieving my goal not even Covid!

Hopefully I will not have too much brain fog!. (He! he!) Drinking hot lemon with honey and sucking strepsils 🍯🥄🍋 only a slight cough.

Hubby seems ok now and improving everyday.🙂

Thank you for all your good wishes!
