Started on 6th Feb 2010 this blog now covers seven Master of Arts Open and Distance Education (MAODE) modules and runs to 5,000 posts. Over the four years of studying for an MA ODE I completed: H807, H800, H808, B822 and H810. After graduation, I then took H809 and H818 as Continual Professional Development (CPD). Years later I am considering revisiting the subject. These could in theory build towards an MEd.
In October 2013 I started an MA in First World War History with the University of Birmingham - successfully gaining 60 credits. I then followed Professor Gary Sheffield to University of Wolverhampton and completed this MA in November 1918. It wasn't meant to take me the duration of the Centenary Celebrations of the First World War 1914-1918.
Since graduating with the MA ODE I have taken a further 17 MOOCs, largely with FutureLearn and Coursera. Indeed, I was privileged to attend the Coursera 'Partner's Conference‘ in March 2016. Since, I have become a Mentor with Coursera's 'Learning How to Learn' and 'Photography' courses. I am a qualified Swim England Swimming Teacher and Coach seeking to gain my 'Senior Club Coach' certificate. I am Head Coach at Hailsham Swimming Club.
I became a Learning Technologist for the Sussex FE/HE college Greater Brighton MET in March 2018. I am working towards becoming a certified Google Educator while picking up other skills using platforms such as Planet eStream and ThingLink. I am also a Swim England Swimming Teacher & Coach and recently took up my first Head Coach role at Hailsham SC.
The scope is broad, though the focus here is on e-learning; its potential, practice and problems - with an angle on creativity (writing, advertising and TV, fine art, design), health care (chronic illness: asthma awareness), history (First World War), sport (swimming teaching and coaching) and applied 'learning and development' (L&D).
